OGR YOU presents Adam Christensen with “Sweet surrender”
The second episode of the cycle organized by the OGR YOU project in 2019 is the recital Sweet surrender by the artist, performer and musician Adam Christensen, on Tuesday 12 March, 6.30 pm.

Christensen’s medium is an exceptionally intense and moving voice.  With the accompaniment of an accordion, the artist interprets fragmentary and ironic personal stories, where sensuality, romance and pathos, fragility and desire, autobiography and fiction intertwine. They remind us how everyone constructs and stages their identities.

“On stage, things come out of my mouth that just fit, but I could never plan it. Sometimes people laugh, sometimes they don’t: people laugh at different things, but with pain, it’s quite unanimous. (…) And the best stories are tragic, but with an absolutely hilarious twist.”, says Christensen in a recent interview for Frieze.

Born in 1979 in England, London-based Christensen grew up in Denmark, before moving back to the UK, and graduating from Goldsmiths, University of London, in 2007. The artist creates performances, videos, texts and textile works and is a member of the Ectopia musical project. Christensen’s most recent exhibitions include: "Shitty Heartbreaker", Overgaden Copenhagen; "Criminal Longing 3", Almanac, London; Baltic Triennial (all 2018). Christensen’s works and performances have also been hosted by The Center for Contemporary Art Futura

(Prague); Elaine MGK (Basel); Performa 11, New Museum (New York); David Roberts Art Foundation, Hollybush Gardens and Institute of Contemporary Art (London).
