OGR YOU presents Sophie Jung with “For Want of a Better Word”
OGR YOU’s program continues, on Tuesday 8 October, 6.30 pm, with the performance For Want of a Better Word. A selection of past, present and future unscripts with uncomfortably long pauses and a song and a half by artist Sophie Jung,

This is how she anticipates it: “Sophie will perform a free-improvised selection of existing pieces, singularly or collectively, that were written for a variety of causes, purposes and audiences, and ad-libbed new material into their creases and out of their gaps in the spirit of an artist-talk gone wrong”.

She describes her practice as follows: “Jung (lives in London and Basel) works across text, sculpture and performance, navigating the politics of representation and challenging the selective silencing that happens by concluding. Her focus is on disrupting dominant scripts through subversively introduced tremors. She employs humor, shame, the absurd, raw anger, rhythm and rhyme, friendship and a constant stream of slippages. (…) Her writing is done in an intersectional-feminist spirit of écriture feminine. “

Recent projects and exhibitions include Taxpayer’s Money for Frieze LIVE; Dramatis Personae at JOAN, Los Angeles, 2019; The Bigger Sleep at Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart and Block Universe, London, 2018-19; Paramount VS Tantamount at Kunsthalle Basel and Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris, 2018; Come Fresh Hell or Fresh High Water at Blain Southern, London; Producing My Credentials at Kunstraum London; Unmittelbare Konsequenzen at Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, 2017; Äppärät at Ballroom Marfa, 2015.
