On the occasion of the 57th CIMAM Annual Conference, the main international gathering dedicated to museums and professionals in modern and contemporary art, scheduled in Turin from 28 to 30 November 2025, OGR Torino presents to the public the restaging of two performances that form part of the official program of the conference: CHROMA_don’t be frightened of turning the page by Alessandro Sciarroni, Thursday 27 November 2025 at 7 PM, and the Trio Project by Abdullah Miniawy, Sunday 30 November 2025 at 7 PM.
On Sunday 30 November 2025, a performance by the trio led by Abdullah Miniawy will take place, born from the meeting of his voice with the sound of trombonists Robinson Khoury and Jules Boittin. The group creates a transcendent musical experience, infused with jazz elements, evocations of the Egyptian soundscape and Sufi inflections, blending inspiration, clarity and emotional intensity. The project premiered at the Musée Dauphinois during the Detours De Babel Festival, earning a standing ovation, and has since been touring internationally. The compositions weave together Baroque, operatic, Coptic Christian and Gulf references, address contemporary political themes and aim to build a global discourse on the human condition, including adaptations of pieces from the Arab Spring and from Miniawy’s earlier projects. The work is translated into English, Italian and French to make it accessible to a wide audience.
Abdullah Miniawy
An Egyptian composer, writer and singer from Fayoum, based in Paris, and creator of Le Cri du Caire. His album won the Victoires du Jazz in 2023. He collaborates with trombonists Robinson Khoury, recognized as an emerging talent, and Jules Boittin, active in several French ensembles. The trio combines jazz and Egyptian sound aesthetics to create performances that are intense and deeply emotional.
