The fifth edition of Biennale Tecnologia, the cultural event conceived and organised by the Politecnico di Torino, returns to the city. The festival explores the relationship between technology and society, inviting audiences to imagine and build new possible worlds together.

On 15 April at 9 pm, in the Sala Fucine at OGR Torino, this new edition opens with Dov’è il Po? by Marco Paolini, a performance that weaves together the performing arts and critical reflection to question the present and make the major themes of technology accessible to a wider audience.

Great rivers cross borders, yet they follow their own logic, shaped more by drainage basins than by the coloured lines of political maps. Physical geography defines landscapes and makes mountains immediately recognisable, but river basins are harder to perceive. At the heart of the narrative is the Po, observed not only as a watercourse but as a physical, historical and political space capable of reshaping territories and identities.

Until two centuries ago, its basin extended beyond borders that have since disappeared; the Ticino marked the separation between different territorial systems, founded on distinct relationships between water, cities and landscape: Piedmont on one side, Lombardy-Venetia on the other. At their confluence, the monumental Ponte della Becca becomes a symbol of transition: the Upper Po and the Lower Po, two rivers within the same river.

Through the hydraulic and political history of the Po, the performance invites audiences to rethink their relationship with the land, helping us understand not only where the river flows, but also where we ourselves are positioned within its basin. The story begins with the Upper Po, with the journey set to continue in the next performance.

Dov’è il Po? and Bestiario Idrico form part of a trilogy within the Atlante delle Rive project, dedicated to water and conceived by Marco Paolini for La Fabbrica del Mondo.
