A project by Almanac
in partnership with OGR Torino and Associazione Casa Maternità Prima Luce,
supported by Fondazione CRT,
Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and GB Mossetto Onlus.

From September 2 to 8, the evocative setting of the Duomo at OGR Torino welcomes Veneri, an exhibition by Cleo Fariselli presented by Almanac, a non-profit organization dedicated to contemporary art and emerging artists based in Turin and London.

Pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood are the themes at the heart of the project: a never-before-seen series of oil-on-canvas paintings produced by the artist during her recent maternity leave to explore the nine months of waiting and birth as transformative experiences, on a physical, personal, conceptual, and philosophical level.

The works in the exhibition were conceived as apotropaic figures for the purpose of channeling primal energies, instinctual feelings, and vital impulses during the crucial experience of childbirth. The figures in the paintings represent not only the testimony of a fundamental personal experience, but also a public invitation to experience pregnancy and motherhood in their deep connection with nature and archaic rituals and images, helping to bring out their uniqueness and power.

During the exhibition, Almanac will organize talks, conversations, and poetry readings to reflect on the need for a renewed relationship with nature and on the semiological and imaginative role of archaic rituals, myths, and traditions in relation to our present.
