 On Wednesday, July 16 at 7 PM, on the stage of the Corte Ovest of OGR Torino, Daniele Pronestì presents his debut novel, Le ragioni dell’istinto (The Reasons of Instinct), published by Bompiani. An original and visionary noir set in a mythical, twilight-hued Calabria, where humans and talking animals coexist, fall in love – and kill.

The story’s protagonist is Giuseppe Bellingeri, a retired engineer and former secret service agent, who also happens to be a grey wolf. He’s called in by Deputy Commissioner Balbino, a brown bear and head of the homicide division, to investigate the murder of a young woman in the village of Morgese.

Blending Mediterranean landscapes with the hard-boiled atmosphere of Chandler’s California, Pronestì weaves a mystery that probes the most instinctive and hidden parts of ourselves. A novel rich in tension and humanity, brought to life by a cast of unforgettable characters, Le ragioni dell’istinto challenges the boundaries between reason and instinct, good and evil, human and animal.

DANIELE PRONESTÌ
Born in Polistena, in the province of Reggio Calabria, Daniele Pronestì has lived between Copenhagen and New York. He works for a major Italian financial institution. Le ragioni dell’istinto is his first novel.

USEFUL INFORMATION

• Attendees with a waitlist ticket may join a dedicated queue. Admission for waitlist ticket holders will only be possible if seats remain after all reserved guests have entered. Entry will be granted in order of arrival.


• During the event, copies of Le ragioni dell’istinto will be available for purchase at the OGR Torino bookshop.


• Waitlist attendees will be admitted until capacity is reached.


• You may reserve for a maximum of two people. After filling out the reservation form, you’ll see the message “You’re almost there!”. Each of the two email addresses provided will receive a confirmation email.


• Reservations are valid only once confirmed and upon receipt of the QR code required for entry. Until each user confirms via the provided email, the seat remains unassigned and available to others.


• If confirmation is not completed in time, the seat will be reassigned and the user will be placed on the waitlist. We recommend completing the entire process promptly to avoid losing your spot.
