On Thursday 19 February at 6.30 PM, a new OGR Talks event will feature Emanuele Trevi, literary critic, columnist for Corriere della Sera and winner of the 2021 Premio Strega, exploring the thought of Philip K. Dick, a giant of science fiction literature.
In his talk entitled "The entire universe is a kind of enormous laboratory". Philip K. Dick and the boundaries of the human, Emanuele Trevi will guide the audience through Dick’s visionary universe. In the 1970s, Dick was already writing about artificial intelligence, androids indistinguishable from humans, and overlapping realities with a foresight that still challenges us profoundly today.
At the heart of Dick’s thought emerges a key concept: empathy, seen as an essential and unalterable human quality, impossible to replicate or counterfeit. An original and fascinating response to the eternal question of the boundary between human and artificial, entrusted to visionary novels, unforgettable stories, and astonishing essays that anticipated the questions artificial intelligence is now urgently raising once again.
