Founder of Massive Attack - formed together with Robert 3D Del Naja, master of the Bristol Sound and star of a memorable season of the British electronic scene, Grant Marshall, better known as Daddy G, comes to OGR Torino. On 1 February 2025, in Binario 3, Daddy G will bring his sound, a mix of hip hop, techno, dub, and house, with a DJ set that is an expression of his refined musical culture and technical skill.

The evening will be opened by the audio visual show Fire, performed by the artistic crew of Ivan Bert, Gianni Denitto, Marco Benz Gentile, FiloQ and Pasquale Mirra and new media artist Riccardo Akasha Franco-Loiri.
Closing set by the Recall roster.

GRANT MARSHALL
Grant Marshall, a.k.a. Daddy G, is one of the founding fathers of the Bristol sound, among the main protagonists of this incredible obscure sound that mixes dub, reggae, funk, disco and hip hop, we remember Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, Smith & Mighty. A style that has left traces in the world for several decades, which has greatly inspired the dubstep scene for example. Daddy G was born with The Wild Bunch Sound System, from which Massive Attack was later born. Along with Mushroom and 3-D, Daddy G was one of the band's founders and lead vocalist. By 1980 he was one of Bristol's youngest DJs, and at his shows you could hear the latest disco and funk, American punk, early imported rap, alongside soul and dub reggae. By the time The Wild Bunch Sound System was founded, Daddy G was already a local celebrity. His DJ sets became legendary not only for his selections and technical mixing skills, but also for his prowess with the microphone. During Massive Attack's hiatuses, Daddy G continued to keep people dancing at the best clubs around the world, with an ever-updated record box. In 2004 he released for the Dj Kicks series, his compilation, where the sounds that dominate are reggae and dub, but also vintage soul and funk, deep house, up to dubstep and of course with a lot of flour from the Massive Attack sack between classics and unreleased remixes.

FIRE
FIRE is an artistic crew, a swirling clash of electronic music, dub, jazz, global beats and visual art that prompts unmediated reflection on FIRE. FIRE brought on the same stage, for two unique performances, Turin-based trumpeter and project creator Ivan Bert (Dark Magus Orchestra, Emma for Peace, Jazz To Nepal), saxophonist Gianni Denitto (Zion Train, T.U.N.,Kora Beat), guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Marco Benz Gentile (Africa Unite, Meg, Architorti) and Genoese producer FiloQ (Italian Institute of Cumbia, Uhuru Republic, Almamegretta, Vinicio Capossela) along with dub legend Adrian Sherwood. This artistic crew, formed by the four Italian musicians and the British producer, is joined for the occasion by one of the most prominent names in the new, more experimental jazz scene, experimental vibraphonist Pasquale Mirra (Mop Mop, C-mon Tigre). On stage the sound stream flows with the strong images of Live Cinema developed by visual artist Ricky Akasha Franco-Loiri, who took care of the live direction, the composition of the pieces is also left open for improvisation and is based on the interplay between the musicians and Sherwood's skillful direction that manipulates the sound as it is shaped. Commissioned as a special project by the Torino Jazz Festival 2020, presented and recorded live on 2 October 2020, FIRE_Live is the collective's first album and is made totally live against the current times of audio editing and post-production.
