On April 10th, at 9 pm, OGR Talks presents a poetic journey among the stars in the company of Guido Catalano, who will accompany the audience with his most beloved poems and new verses inspired by the cosmos. An engaging reading, enhanced by the evocative sounds of Matteo Castellan on keyboard and accordion, for an experience that weaves words and music into a magical atmosphere. Guido Catalano is Italy's most famous living professional poet: for OGR Torino, he has devised a special high-stakes show among stars, galaxies, red giants and supernovas to learn how to hold on to us now that it's windy.
GUIDO CATALANO
Guido Catalano was born in Turin at 8.50 am on February 6th, 1971, and he is still alive. At 17 he decides he wants to be a rock star; later he falls back on being a professional living poet because there are more vacancies. He has produced nine books of poems. The first, I cani hanno sempre ragione, was published in 2000, the last in 2024, Cosa fanno le femmine in bagno?, a ballad in free and happy verse by Feltrinelli. Over the years, the poets' lobby accuses him of being a cabaret performer, the cabaret lobby of being a poet: despite everything Catalano remains the victim of irresistible word-of-mouth and his verses begin to spread on social networks, in suburban bars, in Arci circles, in bookstores, on the stages of social centers, at literary festivals and even at music festivals. He also conquers the stages of Italy's most important theaters and live clubs, recording several sold-out shows. In 2016, he arrives on the screens of the 34th Turin Film Festival with the film Sono Guido E Non Guido, a mockumentary, signed by Alessandro Maria Buonomo for Elianto Film and Fargo Film, which features him together with his alter ego Armando Catalano.
MATTEO CASTELLAN
Composer, pianist, accordionist. On the Italian and international stages since 1993, his artistic journey has been on the borderline between composition and improvisation, happily balancing theatrical performances, jazz concerts and songwriting, with exceptional traveling companions such as Matthias Martelli, Eugenio Allegri, Gianluigi Carlone, Guido Catalano, Flaco Biondini, Federico Sirianni, Giorgio LiCalzi.
