MEUKO! MEUKO!, NONTECH & YAO JUI-CHUNG
Developed from Yao Jui-Chung’s Mini Meme series, Mount Ecstasy expands on reflections around Taiwanese society, technological development and historical memory, transforming them into a speculative universe where myth and contemporary life converge. Co-created with new media artist Yi Kuo (Nontech) and musician and producer Meuko! Meuko!, the project was conceived for the immersive U-108 SPACE at the Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei and continues the artists’ previous audiovisual collaborations Invisible General and Ghost Island. Through 3D technology and immersive surround sound, the work reimagines Mount Meru, a sacred symbol in Buddhism and Hinduism, as a contemporary “axis of illusion”: a hybrid landscape of maritime legends, digital hallucinations and spiritual imagery, where myth, technology and perception continuously intertwine and transform.
Yao Jui-Chung has exhibited at major international events and represented Taiwan at the Venice Biennale in 1997. Works by Meuko! Meuko! and Nontech have been presented at Transmediale, MUTEK, Unsound, the Venice Biennale and the Busan Biennale.
TANAT TEERADAKORN
Multidisciplinary artist, musician, DJ, graphic designer and researcher Tanat Teeradakorn works across sound, performance, graphic arts and installation, creating immersive and participatory situations. Teeradakorn’s practice explores the construction of cultural narratives through memory, history and biography, bringing tradition and contemporary culture together to reflect on cultural hybridity, political memory and social critique.
Teeradakorn’s latest EP, NATIONAL OPERA COMPLEX, released by Chinabot and developed from the 2025 exhibition of the same name at Gasworks in London, reflects in five acts on the influence of media on politics, economics and culture. Inspired by five songs connected to the history of political activism in Thailand, it combines traditional instruments such as Pi, Gong and Ching with Molam, Sai-Yor, Hardcore, Gabber, Trance and Pop. This sonic hybridity reflects the complexity of contemporary Thai culture and the political role of music in shaping memory, ideologies and dissent.
Teeradakorn’s work has been presented at Bangkok CityCity Gallery, Gasworks London, Transmediale and CTM Festival Berlin.
