Other Worlds in the Cosmos explores the fascinating topic of the search for Earth-like planets and the possibility that they may host life forms. Nobel Laureate in Physics 2019, Michel Gustave Édouard Mayor, will guide the audience on a journey through space, starting from the discovery of the first exoplanet in 1995 to the latest research aimed at identifying biosignatures on distant planets. A unique opportunity to discover how science is answering one of humanity's oldest and most intriguing questions: "Are we alone in the universe?"

The lecture will cover the evolution of astronomical research, exploring the discovery of distant planetary systems and the possibility that some of them may resemble our Solar System. Current technological and scientific advancements are bringing us closer to answering this universal question.

MICHEL GUSTAVE ÉDOUARD MAYOR
Michel Gustave Édouard Mayor, Swiss astrophysicist and emeritus professor at the University of Geneva, revolutionized astronomical research with the discovery of 51 Pegasi b, the first exoplanet orbiting a star similar to the Sun. For this discovery, Mayor and Didier Queloz were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2019. Over the course of his career, Mayor has made significant contributions to the development of advanced technologies for astronomy and exoplanet research.
