Movement Festival, the European cousin of the legendary Detroit Electronic Music Festival, returns to Turin for its 15th edition from 28 October to 1 November, with a week of events throughout the city. OGR Torino will be home to the Monday Night Show on 31 October from 9 PM to 3 AM with some of the most prestigious artists on the international clubbing scene.
In 2005 Gigi Mazzoleni meets Derrick May, founder of Movement Detroit, and immediately describes him as the “Maradona of electronic music”. In the meantime Torino is getting ready for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and so came the opportunity to produce the Games’ closing event. Kappa’s claim, which was sponsor of the event, was “People on the Move” and so “Movement” seemed like the perfect name for it, also considering the similarities between Torino and Detroit, two of the major motor cities in the world. Derrick May happily agreed to bring the brand over to Italy and so the first ever edition was held on 15th December 2006 and hosted 2.500 people.
