OGR Club is coming back for a new event on Feb. 19, 2023, with Amalfitano and the Elephant Brain.

First starring at 8:30 pm, Gabriele Mencacci Amalfitano - former voice, guitar, and author of the Joe Victor band - in a sheer set of sophisticated and intelligent songwriting, a pop music throwback filled with wordplays and that unmistakable all-Italian irony. Amalfitano's songs will have you experience hot Italian summers and lost piano bars nights. Everything revolves around the love of the song form, vocals, and pop melody.

Next up is the Elephant Brain band with Canzoni da Odiare. "An album that has more the form of a memory than a played record", whose alleged linear process is actually nonlinear, a path where the joy and pain of living and making new music meet. Live show.

MORE INFO

AMALFITANO
Gabriele Mencacci Amalfitano, was born in Rome and spent his childhood in the Alps. Voice, guitar, and founder of the Joe Victor band with whom he has released two albums (Blue Call Pink Riot, 2015, and Night Mistakes, 2017). He holds a degree in philosophy. Amalfitano is the Italian name he gave to his project.

His latest album, Il Disco di Palermo is a whirlwind of places lived and consumed by characters swirling in their own thoughts, immersed in photographs, songs, noise, or absolute silence. It is an album in which life pulsates and love is always around the corner.

In this collection of songs, Amalfitano's lyrics are sanguine, loudly sung, naked, in a chain of images and frames that plunges the listener inside the song, to live it. There are electronics, guitars, and synths, whose sounds often partake in the story the author tells, accompanying the different scenarios of the same film.

The album, in addition to the unreleased tracks, includes the singles with which Amalfitano embarked on his new adventure after the Joe Victor experience: Estate Capodanno (a song featured in the Netflix TV show "Summertime"), Palermo, Ti Amo Piano bar, Marilyn, Maddalena, and Ogni mia sbronza. Il Disco di Palermo was produced by Fabio Rizzo and Donato Di Trapani and played by Guglielmo Senatore and Giorgio Maria Condemi.

ELEPHANT BRAIN
The Elephant Brain are Vincenzo Garofalo, Andrea Mancini, Emilio Balducci, Roberto Duca, and Giacomo Ricci. In July 2015, they recorded their first EP at Fuori Produzioni, a record label on the outskirts of Perugia that has become their 'second home' and current rehearsal room/recording studio. The EP released in November of the same year received spot-on recognition from both critics and the public, leading them, since March 2016, to tour around Italy. After three years spent in the studio working on their new record, in 2019, at the Rock Contest, they won the SIAE Award for best composition with the song Scappare Sempre. On January 17, 2020, just before the pandemic broke out, they released Niente di speciale, their debut album, co-produced with Jacopo Gigliotti (FASK) and distributed by Libellula/Believe, which scored over 1 million listens. From the onset, and with more than 40,000 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify, the Elephant Brain have distinguished themselves for an intense live activity, which has seen them play on some of the best-known stages in the independent - and beyond – Italian music scene: the Atlantico (Rome w/Fask), Live Rock Festival in Acquaviva (SI), the Anfiteatro delle the Cascine in Florence and Umbria che Spacca. Preceded by the singles Anche questa è insicurezza (on the cover of the Rock Italia playlist) Neanche un'ora sveglio and Come mi divori (which sees them again on the cover of Rock Italia), the band's second album, Canzoni da odiare, is released on November 11, 2022 by Libellula/Believe.
