Patch Wednesdays are back — your midweek cybersecurity events — with a new session curated by Telsy’s Cryptography Research Team.
On June 4 at 6.30 PM, at OGR Torino, we’ll dive into a cutting-edge topic: the impact of quantum computing on communication security and the possible paths forward for cryptography.
Although quantum computing is still under development, its processing power promises to transform cybersecurity, calling into question many of the cryptographic techniques in use today.

During the event, we’ll explore the two main countermeasures currently in development:
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), which seeks to build future-proof cryptographic algorithms based on new hard mathematical problems.
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), which uses the principles of quantum mechanics to ensure the secure exchange of encryption keys.

panel of experts will guide the audience through real-world applications, key differences, and how these technologies might complement each other — helping us understand both the potential and the limitations of each approach.

SPEAKERS

EDOARDO SIGNORINI
Cryptographer, expert in post-quantum security – Telsy
He will examine the threat quantum computers pose to current cybersecurity frameworks, outlining the fundamentals of post-quantum cryptography and strategies for safeguarding sensitive data in this emerging technological landscape.
CLAUDIA DE LAZZARI
Cryptographer, expert in quantum technologies – QTI
She will present Quantum Key Distribution, explaining the physical principles behind it, how it differs from classical cryptography, and its potential impact on secure communications in the years to come.
DANILO BAZZANELLA
Co-founder and head of the CrypTO group at Politecnico di Torino
As moderator, he will lead the discussion between experts, exploring the strengths, limitations, and potential for integration between PQC and QKD.

AGENDA
- Introduction to Quantum Computing and the Threat to Cybersecurity
- Post-Quantum Cryptography as a Classical Response
