On 6th October, at Binario 3 of OGR Torino – the contemporary culture and innovation hub – talks, visual, performing arts and visual content to celebrate the 20 years during which TOP-IX has been creating and operating the Internet Exchange in the northwest of Italy.
A great event beginning at 15.30, comprising shows and lectio magistralis, where you can meet or link up with guests from the worlds of art, science and technology.
CONNECTIONS explores the possible futures of a world where data, connectivity and algorithms play a crucial role in shaping the experience of reality. Glancing at the five challenges to be faced in the near future: from privacy to public health, from data sovereignty to the evolution of the idea of citizenship. The goal is to work for a future where data will be fairer democratic.
Eyeing the future, the event interprets the present through the lens of impact and inclusiveness.
The audience will be guided on a journey into the world of innovation and digital data by Massimo Temporelli, science populariser and writer.
From the keynote by North American data-artist Jer Thorp – among the first at the New York Times to focus on research and data visualisation – to scientists Vittoria Colizza – research director at INSERM and a specialist in data modelling of infectious diseases and epidemics – and Eleni Diamanti – a Greek scientist working on quantum computing – to Francesco Bonfiglio, Chief Executive Officer at GAIA-X, the project pursuing the creation of a federated European infrastructure for data and software.
The day will end with a performance by the art collective SPIME.IM, who will present their show “ZERO”, an audio-video experience exploring – from micro to macro – the aesthetics of languages stemming from the rise of digital reality.
The event is organised by TOP-IX, in collaboration with OGR Torino.
