A New University of Turin’s Space at OGR Tech

A strategic presence at the heart of the innovation ecosystem, strengthening dialogue between research, businesses, startups and institutions

At OGR Torino, University of Turin Rector Cristina Prandi and Fondazione CRT Chair Anna Maria Poggi, together with Davide Canavesio, Chief Executive Officer of OGR Torino, and Marco Pironti, University of Turin Vice-Rector for Innovation and Knowledge Valorisation, have inaugurated UniTo’s new space at OGR Tech, part of OGR Torino, the Fondazione CRT’s innovation hub that has become a leading European centre for cultural, artistic, scientific, technological and entrepreneurial experimentation.

The initiative is part of the well-established partnership between Fondazione CRT and the University of Turin, which takes the form of support for research projects, education, skills development and, through OGR Torino, the growth of innovative startups.

The launch of the space is one of the initiatives aimed at strengthening the University of Turin's innovation ecosystem, supported by a contribution from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo dedicated to the University's innovation programmes. Its location at OGR Tech will maximise the impact of an investment designed to expand opportunities for collaboration between the research and business communities.

Main activities

The new space has been designed as an operational hub for:
- networking activities and collaboration between the University, businesses and innovation ecosystem stakeholders;
- events and meetings showcasing the University of Turin's expertise, areas of excellence and innovation projects;
- initiatives promoting the University's research, scientific infrastructure and platforms, with the aim of fostering new joint projects.

Researchers, academic staff and personnel involved in technology transfer and research valorisation activities will be able to use the workstations through a booking system, working closely with businesses, startups and investors and taking part in the opportunities for discussion and collaboration offered by OGR Tech.

A programme of themed events will showcase the University of Turin's expertise and areas of excellence, with a particular focus on technology transfer, academic entrepreneurship and collaboration with the business community, highlighting the contribution of research to the economic and social development of the local area.

Particular attention will also be given to the University's research infrastructure and scientific platforms, promoting their use as tools for collaboration with businesses, particularly SMEs and startups. This context will also include Innosfera, the University of Turin's innovation portal, which is expanding its role as a gateway to the expertise, services and opportunities offered by the University.
