The
third edition of the OGR YOU - NOVA CONVENTION, project curated by
Guido Costa in collaboration with Sergey Kantsedal, involved 15 young adults (aged between 18-21), who had the opportunity, from March 2020 to today, to confront themselves with significant themes of life. The objective of this "intensive experiment in education to the complexity of culture" was to stimulate a nirvana of knowledge through art in all its forms and to induce the highest possible disconnection in a group of young consciences.
Each macro theme was developed in a theoretical form and then deepened through 'case studies' thanks to the participation of great guests for the exclusive benefit of the group of students. The expert thanatologist
Marina Sozzi intervened for Death, for Alteration the critic and philosopher
Franco Berardi (called Bifo), for Money
Giampaolo Manca (called the Doge), for Silence the painter and philosopher
Stefano Faravelli, for the Identity the former politician
Vladimir Luxuria.
Activism is the latest theme, chosen for its dynamic nature and a sign of a responsible openness to the future. The long cognitive journey of the Nova Convention has always had politics and commitment as its horizon; asking questions about our surroundings, however difficult and uncomfortable, is the first step towards emancipation and the use of critical and free-thinking. To conclude this experiment, the last theme will host
Nan Goldin, an American artist who has been giving voice to gender, social and political issues with her art and her extraordinary energy for decades. We will talk with her about her long history as an activist in art, from her involvement in ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) between the 80s and 90s to her recent battle against Big Pharma and the Sackler family group. PAIN (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now), which she founded in 2018.
The event will be held in English with simultaneous translation service.
