The Quantum Effect at Frieze Masters
On 14 October in London, Daniel Birnbaum and Jacqui Davies together with artist Ryan Gander for a conversation about the exhibition and its accompanying publication.
On Wednesday, 14 October 2026 at 5.30 PM, the Koenig Books booth at the prestigious international art fair Frieze Masters, in London, will host a conversation on
The Quantum Effect. Curators Daniel Birnbaum and Jacqui Davies will be joined by Ryan Gander, one of the artists involved in the exhibition, to present the project and the publication of the same name, published by Verlag Walther und Franz Koenig.
Bringing contemporary art, cinema, and scientific concepts into dialogue, the project explores quantum theories and their influence on visual culture, questioning familiar ideas of space, time and reality. Conceived as an extension of the exhibition project, the book moves beyond the traditional catalogue format to establish its own distinctive editorial identity.
With shape and proportions inspired by the black monolith in Stanley Kubrick’s
2001: A Space Odyssey, the book gives this research a physical presence. Conceived as an integral part of the curatorial project, it extends the exhibition into a distinctive publishing format.
The London event comes ahead of the exhibition’s opening at OGR Torino, the hub of Fondazione CRT. Following its debut at SMAC Venice in 2025,
The Quantum Effect will open to the public on 31 October 2026 in a new site-specific installation inside Binario 1.
A Frieze Masters VIP pass is required to access the fair on 14 October.
